Welcome to the Junior Sprint page

What is a Jr. Sprint?
It's a sprint car only smaller.  It's powered by a Yamaha kt100 engine
which is attached to a pulley assembly called a 'jack shaft'.  This
reduces the horsepower so they don't go too fast.  They still hit
speeds up to 45 mph.
Just like a full-sized sprinter chassis set-up is critical.  Set -up consists
of shock adjustment, tire pressure, radius rod adjustment, Pan hard
(jacobs ladder) width, and sprocket-clutch set-up.

Where do they race?
1/5th mile dirt/clay oval tracks.  We have two local tracks:  Visalia and
Lemoore.

What about safety?
Brayden wears a fire suit (Nomex).  He's strapped in with a 5-point
racing harness and uses a Hans device with his helmet, which
protects his neck from injury during an accident.

What about race-night?
There are typically 13-19 cars in his class per night. They usually run
two 10-lap heats and a 20-lap main.  The age group is 7 - 12 years
old.  Brayden was the only 7 year old out there this year running
against mostly 10 -12 year olds.
