February IKF Race in Fontana
Pictures at right
Well,  the 2006 racing season is officially under way.  It began for us in
Fontana, Ca.  at California speedway on February 4th & 5th.

2005 was a year to learn and get familiar with the in's and out's of racing.
This year we will be racing different tracks and some regional series as
well.

We're very excited about Brayden's performance this weekend, mainly
because it looks like he has finally 'clicked' as they say.  Meaning that you
can coach the kids all day long but they're not going to get aggressive and
start going for it until it clicks for them.  That finally happened for Brayden.

We started with a full day of practice on Friday.  This was a great
experience for us because it was a new track and a lot of cars (20).
Brayden adapted to the track within two sessions and was running great
after that.

When Saturday morning came around we were at the trailer at 6:30 am to
get things together.  Brayden's group was first out to practice and that was
scheduled to begin at 7:30.  That was a lot of fun because the track was
still wet and the kids were sliding and spinning everywhere.  After two
rounds of practice they went out for qualifying.  The track was still slick
during qualifying and Brayden spun out a few times but was still able to
qualify sixth out of 20 cars.

His heat race went great other than a bad start where he tried going
outside to pass but instead got hung out to dry out there and got passed by
5 cars.  He went from sixth to eleventh before the first turn.  He did pass a
couple cars and finished ninth  in his heat.

He started ninth in the main and got off to a great start.  He finished
eleventh which doesn't sound so good but actually it is.  The reason it's
good is because Shane had his car set up very loose to try to compensate
for Brayden's not so aggressive driving.  Well, as we mentioned earlier
Brayden clicked and drove like a madman passing a bunch of cars out
there.  Shane tried tightening the car but didn't quite get it tight enough and
Brayden spun out 3 times during the 8 lap race.  The first two times he
spun he passed the cars that got by him it's just that he spun again on the
final lap and didn't have time to pass them again.

We're very excited about the way Brayden is driving and are really looking
forward to his next race on March 4th &b 5th in Las Vegas.

Stay tuned for updates.
