Opening race recap: Lemoore Raceway
After a very busy off-season we finally got to race this past Saturday night in Lemoore for their season opener. There were 18 cars in the restricted class, which was less than I expected. Brayden was 16th out to qualify and put in a solid sub-twelve second lap, which put him fourth when it was finished.
He started third in his heat race and ended up finishing there as well after racing hard with his good friend, Kaleb Montgomery, #3. This is what he needed to do as you must finish in the top four in order to keep your qualifying time for the main.
When the main event came around it was very cold and windy and the track had become slick in spots, with moisture on the bottom. No real cushion up top to run on, which was a bummer for Brayden, as he likes to run the top.
He started fourth and was running strong until another driver hit him and spun him as he was going into turn three. He was now restarting 14th with 13 laps to go. He was mad and was on a mission after that as he charged his way up to 6th before running out of laps.
We are all very proud of the way he finished the night. I believe that him getting spun was the best thing to happen to him because it really built his confidence.

We head to Visalia this Friday night for their 2012 season opener and look to picking up where we left off last year with another win.
